SYMPTOMS

Changing the values for "One work day is," "One work week is," and "One work month is" on the Work tab of the Options dialog box on the Tools menu does not reschedule a person. A person, by default, still works 8 hours a day.

MORE INFORMATION

In the Options dialog box, the Work Units option is used for calculating work for a task when you have entered work in terms of days, weeks, or months. For example if you set Work Day = 6 hours, 1 day of work is interpreted as 6 hours and 2 days as 12 hours.

For scheduling the work for the person, Microsoft Team Manager uses the person's calendar which by default is 8-5, with an hour break. To get Team Manager to schedule based on your work day, you must modify your person's calendar to match your work day unit. For example if your work day is 6 hours, modify your resource calendar to work from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with an hour break.

To modify a person's calendar, follow these steps:

  1. Click the People tab.
  2. On the View menu, click More Views.
  3. In the More Views dialog box, click Working Times, and then click OK.
  4. In the left pane, select the person for whom you want to modify the calendar.
  5. Select the weekday or dates you want to modify.
  6. Click the Edit Working Times button.
  7. Enter the hours in the Working Times dialog box, and then click OK.
