This article describes limitations of the QuickView filters provided with Works 4.0a and 4.5.

QuickView Word Processor Limitations

  • Footnote references appear as blank spaces.

  • Line spacing is not represented.

  • Bullets display adjacent text formatting (Bold, Underline, etc.)

  • Document name tokens do not appear.

  • When bulleted text is followed by a manual page break the text appears on a separate line below the bullet.

  • The Quick Viewer does not correctly size the viewing area to the window.

  • Bullets may appear before shaded paragraphs.

  • Footer and header text is lost.

  • Justified alignment appears as left aligned.

  • Superscript and subscript text appears as normal text.

  • Colored text displays as black text.

  • Borders do not display.

  • Shading does not display.

  • OLE objects are rendered as blank rectangles containing, "OLE2 Object".

  • Columns do not display.

  • Smart quotes appear as straight quotes.

  • Font size is not shown.

  • Margins are not represented.

  • Orientation of the page is not represented.

QuickView Spreadsheet Limitations

  • QuickView cannot display the results of a text formula.

QuickView Database Limitations

  • If the file is too large for QuickView, it may display the error, The Database Is Corrupt.

  • If the file is not a Works Database, but has the .wdb extension, you will receive the error, There Is No Viewer For Works 4.0 Database.

  • Only List view of the Database is displayed.
