XL97: Error Dragging Excel File into Internet Explorer (151271)

When you drag a Microsoft Excel document into Microsoft Internet Explorer,
you may receive the following error message
Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site <Filename>.
Server execution failed
where <Filename> is the full path to the file that you are trying to open.
Microsoft Excel Viewer is opened in the background, but the Excel file
is opened in Internet Explorer.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- Microsoft Excel Viewer is installed on your computer.
-and-
- Microsoft Excel Viewer is the default viewer program for Excel files.

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.
Method 1
Open the Excel file in Internet Explorer. To do this, follow these
steps:
- Start Internet Explorer.
- On the File menu, click Open. Click Browse.
- Click All Files in the Files Of Type list.
- Locate the file in the Open dialog box. Click to select the file,
and then click Open.
- Click OK.
The file is opened in Microsoft Excel Viewer.
Method 2
Open the file in Microsoft Excel Viewer. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start the Microsoft Excel Viewer.
- Locate the file in the Open dialog box. Click to select the file,
and then click Open.
Method 3
Double-click the file in Microsoft Windows Explorer. The file is opened in
Microsoft Excel Viewer.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Internet Explorer 5.5. This problem was first corrected in Internet Explorer version 5.5 Service Pack 1.
