This article was previously published under Q150699 SUMMARY
When printing to a nonexistent local or network port, you receive no error
messages. This behavior is by design and is consistent with most other
Windows-based applications.
MORE INFORMATION
If a print job is sent to an invalid destination, the Windows Printer
Manager produces a error condition to notify you of the problem.
To find out what port is used by a printer driver, open the Windows Control
Panel, double-click Printers, select the printer, on the File menu click
Properties, and then click the Details tab. If you are using Microsoft
Windows NT version 4.0, the last step is to click the Ports tab.
