TMGR: Date Bars May Not Be Redrawn While Entering Tasks (150598)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q150598 SYMPTOMS
When you enter new tasks in any Graph view in Microsoft Team Manager, the
date bars may not be drawn or changed.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you insert new tasks under one of the following
conditions: - After you enter some information for a task and move to a different
cell in the same task row by using either the mouse pointer or the
keyboard.
- Press the ENTER key after you edit an existing task or insert a new task
that moves the selection to the next task row.
- Calculation has been set to manual.
In each these cases the task bar is not displayed or changed because the
task has not recalculated.
In case 1, the task edit is not complete. The dates are not calculated
and the bar is not drawn.
In case 2, Microsoft Team Manager continues to insert tasks on the next
row. Because the insertion process is not complete, Team Manager defers
recalculation; therefore, the dates for the inserted task are not computed
yet, and the bar is not drawn.
In case 3, the bars are not displayed because calculation is only performed
manually, and the dates are not yet computed.
WORKAROUND
In cases 1 and 2, the tasks calculate when task editing or inserting is
completed. Either click on another task using the mouse pointer or press
the ENTER key twice after you insert or edit the task. NOTE: You can tell if Microsoft Team Manager is in the edit mode by looking
at the row number of the currently selected row. If there is a ">" symbol
where the row number normally is, Microsoft Team Manager is in edit mode.
Press the ENTER key to finish the edit mode.
In case 3, either force calculation by pressing the F9 key or set
Calculation back to Automatic by doing the following: - Click Options on the Tools menu.
- Click the Calculation tab.
- Click to select the "Automatically adjust schedule as changes are made"
button.
