The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office for Windows 95
This article was previously published under Q150353 SYMPTOMS
When you start the 1996-97 edition of Microsoft Bookshelf from the Office
Shortcut Bar, the following error message may appear:
.lnk file is missing
If you click the button again or restart the computer, Bookshelf '96
starts.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the following conditions are met:
- You previously installed Microsoft Bookshelf '95.
-and-
- You install the 1996-1997 edition of Microsoft Bookshelf.
-and-
- You click the Bookshelf button on the Office Shortcut Bar.
This behavior occurs because the Office Shortcut Bar has not yet updated
the Bookshelf '95 button. When you click the button again, the Office
Shortcut Bar refreshes the button icons.
WORKAROUND
To prevent this behavior from occurring, refresh the Office Shortcut Bar;
this action forces the Microsoft Bookshelf '95 button to update. You can
then click the button to start Bookshelf without receiving an error
message. To refresh the Office Shortcut Bar, use the following steps:
- Right-click the Office toolbar on the Office Shortcut Bar.
- Click Refresh Icons.
