TMGR: Summary Tasks Not Marked with Conflict Symbol (150107)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q150107 SUMMARY
A summary task is never marked with a conflict symbol, even if it has a
child task that is marked.
MORE INFORMATION
The conflict symbol is a diamond containing an exclamation point placed to
the left of the names of tasks that have a Yes in the read-only Conflict
field. If a non-summary task has resources that cannot finish their
assigned work by the date in the task's Deadline field, a Yes is
automatically placed in the Conflict field, and the name of the task is
marked with the conflict symbol.
NOTE: To insert the Conflict column in a task table, on the Insert menu,
click Column, select Conflict from the list of fields, and then click OK.
The Conflict and Deadline fields cannot be used by summary tasks, and
summary tasks are never marked with a conflict symbol to indicate problems
with their child tasks. This can hide conflicts in a view like Task
Organizer if summary tasks are collapsed.
To see all tasks so that you can see all conflict symbols, on the
Standard toolbar, click the Show All Tasks button (by default this button
has two plus signs on it). Alternatively, click the Vital Signs tab, click
the arrow on the view banner, and then click "Tasks that Need Attention."
