TMGR: Vertical Scroll Box Changes Selection in Grouped View (150106)

This article was previously published under Q150106 SUMMARY
In a view with an active grouping, if you drag the vertical scroll bar
thumb button far enough to move a different group to the top of the window,
then the selection becomes a single cell at the top of the window in the
same column as the previous active cell, instead of the originally selected
cell. The selection does not change when you use the vertical scroll
arrows.
MORE INFORMATION
The Task Organizer view and similar views allow tasks to be grouped by
various categories. For example, the Task Organizer view can be grouped by
Priority as follows: on the View menu, point to Grouping, and then click By
Priority.
This displays the tasks in an outline structure, with group headings in the
Task Name column corresponding to each of the possible priority values:
"Priority: Highest," "Priority: Very High," and so on. A grouping can be
removed as follows: on the View menu, point to Grouping, and then click No
Grouping.
When a grouping is active, you can use the vertical scroll bar thumb button
to scroll whole groups at a time, instead of one row at a time. If you drag
the scroll box far enough to move a different group to the top of the
window, then the selection becomes a single cell at the top of the window
as described above. If you do not move the scroll box far enough, it simply
snaps back.
WORKAROUND
To scroll vertically while keeping the same cells selected, click the
scroll arrows or the empty parts of the scroll bar. You can also use the UP
ARROW, DOWN ARROW, PAGE UP, and PAGE DOWN keys.
