Error Printing Works Spreadsheet or Database to Deskjet 600 (149909)

SYMPTOMS

When trying to print a black and white Spreadsheet or Database from Works for Windows 3.0 to an HP Deskjet 600, you may receive the following error:
Change Print Cartridge. Your document contains color text or images.

Install the color print cartridge, then click OK to continue printing. Click Help for detailed instructions on installing a print cartridge.
This error can occur if the Print Gridlines option is enabled and you are using the HP Deskjet printer driver version 6.1e.

RESOLUTION

To avoid this error, use one of the following 3 resolutions:

Upgrade to Version 7.0 of the Printer Driver

This problem does not occur with version 7.0 of the Deskjet 600 printer driver. Contact Hewlett-Packard to upgrade your printer driver.

Change the Printer Settings to Grayscale

To change the printer settings to Grayscale, do the following:
  1. Open the document in Works and on the File menu, click Printer Setup.
  2. Select the Deskjet 600 from the list of printers, and then click Setup.
  3. In the ColorSmart section of the Printer Setup dialog, select Print in Grayscale and click OK.

Turn Off the Print Gridlines Option for the Spreadsheet or Database

If you turn off the Print Gridlines option for the Spreadsheet or Database document this error does not occur.

To turn off the gridlines, do the following:
  1. Open the document in Works and on the File menu, click Page Setup.
  2. In the Page Setup window, click the Other Options tab.
  3. Clear the check in the box next to Print gridlines, and then click OK.
