MORE INFORMATION

 Area Character Limitation
 ---- --------------------

 Date 8 (for example 12/12/95)

 Payee Name 32

   Money 99 and later 14
Earlier versions 10 (7 digits before the decimal plus one comma
if needed, and 2 after). Wallet checks will
print up to 12 characters (printing up to two
commas). Maximum check amount is 9,999,999.99.

Amount Text Approximately 60 characters. Voucher and
Standard checks may print a few more
characters than Wallet checks (both Laser
style and continuous feed). If the spelled out
amount will not fit within this 60-character
limitation, the amount will not be spelled but
will be printed as a number.

19 on Voucher checks printed from Money 3.0,
                         32 on Wallet checks

 Description in a split 30

 Category or
 Sub-category in a split 32

 Amount in a split
   Money 99 14
   Previous versions 10

Lines in a split 16 maximum lines of the split information will
print in the voucher portions of a Voucher
check. (Only Voucher checks print split
                         information).

Wallet checks have an overall limitation of 24 characters in the stub portion. This affects the Pay To, Memo, Category, and Account.

Voucher checks have a limitation of 32 characters for the Category and Subcategory combined in the voucher sections. And because the format is "Category : Subcategory" with the space colon space using three of the characters, only 29 total characters of the category and subcategory will print.

Possible unexpected results:
  • Characters will be cut off due to the limitations.
  • If an amount is 1 million or more, the commas will not print on Standard and Voucher checks.
  • If the Category is longer than 24 characters, none of the subcategory will print on a Wallet's stub, and if the Category is longer that 29 characters, nothing from the subcategory will print on the voucher portions of Voucher checks.
  • On a Voucher check printed from Money 4.0 or 4.0a for Windows 95, if the Account name is longer than 17 characters and there is a memo for the check, the Account name and memo will appear to merge together. You can resolve this by renaming the account to fewer than 18 characters, making sure the account name's eighteenth character is a space, or starting the memo for this check with a space.
  • If a split transaction has more than 16 lines of detail, only the first 16 will print in the voucher portions of a Voucher check, so the total of the printed lines may not equal the total of the check. This can be resolved by combining lines in the split to reduce the number of lines to 16 or fewer.
NOTE: Some of the limitations may be dependent upon the font used by the printer to print the checks or by the printer or printer driver used.
