TMGR: Free Time Column Only Shows When Grouped by People (149806)

SUMMARY

You can add the Free Time field as a timescale column to the Actual Work view. No values are calculated or appear until the view is grouped by people.

The idea of free time applies only to people, not to tasks. Take the example of several tasks with the same person assigned. If you have 6 tasks with 1 hour of maximum work on each task, the person has a total of 6 hours of work for a day and a total of 2 hours of free time.

To see the Free Time field, do the following:

  1. Click the Tasks tab, and then click the Actual Work view.
  2. On the View menu, point to Grouping, and then click By People Assigned.
  3. On the Format menu, click Add/Remove Timesheet Columns.
  4. In the Add/Remove Timesheet Columns dialog box, under Available Fields, click Free Time, and then click the Add button. Click OK.
