The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft EasyBall

This article was previously published under Q145704

SYMPTOMS

When you start Windows, the Pointerland tool included with the EasyBall may not change the mouse pointer from the default Windows pointer.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if Pointer.exe is being loaded from the "Load=" line in the Win.ini file.

RESOLUTION

Remove Pointer.exe from the "Load=" line in the Win.ini file. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Use any text editor (such as Notepad) to open the Win.ini file in the Windows folder.
  2. Remove any entry containing "Pointer.exe" from the "Load=" line. For example, remove the following entries:
        - c:\mouse\pointer.exe
        - c:\msinput\pointer.exe
        - pointer.exe

NOTE: Do not remove any other entry from the "Load=" line.
  3. Save the Win.ini file and then quit the editor.
  4. Restart your computer.
