PRJ41: Store Net Names Parameter May Cause MS Project to Stop (145614)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project for Windows 95 4.1
- Microsoft Project for Windows 95 4.1a
This article was previously published under Q145614 SYMPTOMS
When you save your project file a second time, Microsoft Project stops, and
you may receive an error message similar to the following:
WINPROJ caused an invalid page fault in module WINPROJ.EXE at 0137:500e80f9
CAUSE
The "Store Net Names" registry parameter enables Microsoft Project to store
file path information either with logical names (such as "G:\Test.mpp") or
with universal naming convention (UNC) names (such as "\\Server\Share\
Test.mpp"). If "Store Net Names" is set to No and if the file being saved
to a network location contains a macro which has been run or edited,
Microsoft Project will stop during the second save.
RESOLUTION
By default, Store Net Names is set to Yes. If your network operating system does not support UNC names, set Store Net Names to No and store your macros in the Global.mpt file instead of in individual .mpp files.
Steps to change the setting for Store Net Names:
- Click the Windows Start button, then click Run.
- Type Regedit, click OK.
- Click the plus (+) sign next to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
to expand that key. - Continue to expand the following keys:
