SUMMARY

You may need to find a location using latitude and longitude coordinates. Automap has the ability to locate a place based on the coordinate values you enter. The following article tells how to use latitude and longitude to find locations in Automap.

MORE INFORMATION

Standard latitude/longitude notation usually lists minutes as a single quotation mark (') and seconds as a double quotation mark ("). Longitude and latitude notation used in Road Atlas for the Macintosh use the following format:

<Degrees> <Minutes> N <Degrees> <Minutes> W

When you enter coordinates, do not use degree or comma notation.

To use the Latitude and Longitude option, do the following:
  1. Start Automap Streets.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Go To.
  3. Select Go To An Airport, Park, Natural Feature, Or Area Code In The Local Area.
  4. Using the recognized format, enter the Latitude and Longitude coordinates. For example, to enter 46 Degrees 37.73 Minutes North, 120 Degrees 29.95 Minutes West, you would enter:

    46 37.73 N 120 29.95 W

  5. Click the Go To button. In the Search For dialog box, click Latitude/longitude, and then click OK.

NOTE: Automap Streets can only return the location of a latitude/longitude for the current map. If the location is outside the current map the message "(none)" appears.
