SUMMARY

This article describes how to configure the FrontPage Explorer to work with an HTML editor other than the FrontPage Editor. Note that if you configure FrontPage to use another editor, you will not be able to use the WebBot Components or FrontPage Image Maps.

To configure FrontPage Explorer to work with another HTML editor, use the appropriate method for your version of FrontPage.

FrontPage 97

  1. In FrontPage Explorer, click Options on the Tools menu and then click the Configure Editors tab.
  2. Select the FrontPage Editor, and then click Modify.
  3. In the Modify Editor Association dialog box, type the name of the editor and the command line needed to run the editor, and then click OK.

    NOTE: There are multiple types in the Configure Editors dialog box. You will need to repeat this step for each type in the list.
  4. Click OK.

FrontPage 1.0 and 1.1

  1. In FrontPage Explorer, click Configure Editors on the Tools menu.
  2. Select FrontPage Editor, and then click Modify.
  3. In the Modify Editor Association dialog box, type the name of the editor and the command line needed to run the editor, and then click OK.

    NOTE: There are multiple types in the Configure Editors dialog box. You will need to repeat this step for each type in the list.
  4. Click OK.
When using some editors, you may need to re-import the edited file into FrontPage Explorer after your editing is completed.
