This article was previously published under Q142762 SYMPTOMS
When you print a Word document that contains drawing objects on a Hewlett-
Packard HP DeskJet 560C printer, any Dark Green or Dark Magenta objects
print in black ink.
CAUSE
Most color inkjet printers use black as a component of a color; if the
color is dark and the pattern is not diffuse, the color appears black. Some
Windows 95 printer drivers include the Image Color Matching (ICM) Option.
If this option is not configured correctly, dark-colored objects print in
black.
RESOLUTION
To configure this option correctly, use the following steps:
- On the File menu, click Print.
- Select the HP DeskJet 560C printer and click Properties.
- Select ICM.
- Under the Printout Option, select Color Graphics.
- Click the Options button.
- Under Halftoning, select Scatter. (Cluster will also work, but it
produces a more "fuzzy" effect.)
- Click OK until you return to the Print dialog box.
The colors should now print correctly.
MORE INFORMATION
ICM provides improved uniformity between color images displayed within an
program and the resulting color of those images from an output device.
