Works: Hyphenation Tool Doesn't Work Correctly with APO in Header (142416)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works 3.0
- Microsoft Works 3.0a
- Microsoft Works 3.0b
This article was previously published under Q142416 SYMPTOMS
If you have an absolute positioned object (APO) in the header of your
document, the hyphenation tool will not function properly. The tool will
allow you to check the document, but then produces the following
message:
Hyphenation is complete.
Works has inserted hyphens in your document where appropriate. If your
pagination changes, Works will automatically remove the unnecessary
hyphens.
However, no hyphens appear in your document.
WORKAROUND
Move the APO out of the header. If the APO is not in the header,
text on the same line(s) as the APO will not hyphenate correctly;
text below the header will hyphenate normally.
-or-
Change the object to In-Line by doing the following:
- Click once on the object to select it.
- Click Picture/Object on the Format menu.
- Select In-Line text wrap on the Text Wrap tab, and then click OK.
NOTE: After moving the APO out of the header or changing it to an In-Line
object, perform the hyphenation. Then you can either move the object back
into the header or change it back to an APO.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Works version 3.0 for
Windows. This problem was corrected in Works versions 4.0 and later.
