Persistent Connections to NetWare Server Disabled (142234)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 95
- Microsoft Windows 98
This article was previously published under Q142234 SYMPTOMS
When you shut down Windows 95/98 and log on as a different user,
persistent connections to a NetWare server may appear in My Computer with
an "X" indicating they are disabled. When this occurs, the mapped drive is
not available to any program until you double-click the drive in Windows
Explorer.
Note that this behavior does not occur with drives mapped to Microsoft
Windows NT or Windows 95/98 servers, or with UNC connections to NetWare
servers.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you use the same user name and password for
both the Windows NT and NetWare domains and your primary network logon is
set to the Microsoft Client for Microsoft Networks.
RESOLUTION
Either change your user name on one of the domains, or set your primary
network logon to the Microsoft Client for NetWare networks. To change your
primary network logon, follow these steps:
- In Control Panel, double-click Network.
- In the Primary Network Logon box, click Client for NetWare Networks.
- Click OK. When you are prompted to restart your computer, do so.
