SYMPTOMS

If you try to run Works under Windows 95 from a LANtastic server on more than one workstation at a time, you may receive the following error message:
Another program is currently using this file
You also can also receive this error if you try to run the Works Setup from a LANtastic server on two workstations at the same time.

RESOLUTION

This problem occurs if the files on the LANtastic server are not set to read-only, or if the shared directory on the LANtastic server is not a read-only share. If the Works program files are set to read-only on the server, it is not necessary to make the shared LANtastic directory a read- only share.

To change the read/write privileges of the shared LANtastic resource, see your LANtastic documentation. To change the read-write attributes of the Works program files, do the following:

  1. On the Start menu, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
  2. Open the folder containing the administrative installation of Works on the LANtastic server.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
  4. On the File menu, click Properties.
  5. In the attributes section of the Properties page, make sure the box next to Read-only contains a black check mark.

NOTE: A gray check mark indicates that only some of the selected files are set to read-only. A black check mark indicates that all selected files are set to read-only.
  6. Click OK.
