ACC: Cannot Convert Database with Same Name and Path (141615)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Access for Windows 95 7.0
- Microsoft Access 97
This article was previously published under Q141615 Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.
SYMPTOMS
When you convert a Microsoft Access 1.x, 2.0, or 7.0 database to a
Microsoft Access 97 database (or when you convert a Microsoft Access 1.x or
2.0 database to a Microsoft Access 7.0 database) by using the Convert Database command on the Database Utilities option of the Tools menu, you can specify a destination database with the same path and file name as the source database. However, you may receive the following error message:
You can't convert a Microsoft Access database to the same name and
location.
CAUSE
Microsoft Access 7.0 and 97 cannot convert a database if the source and
destination databases have the same name and path even though you are
prompted to verify that you want to replace the file.
RESOLUTION
Specify either a different name or a different path for the source and
destination databases. If you want to use the same name, you must use a
different path.
