The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works for Windows 95, version 4.0

This article was previously published under Q141554

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start the TaskWizard, you may receive either of the following error messages:
Works cannot find the TaskWizard files.
Run Setup Again.

-or-

Cannot Run TaskWizard.
Run Setup again.
Clicking OK is the only option, and running Setup again may not correct the problem.

CAUSE

If the file Vbrun300.dll is either corrupted, missing, or located in a folder other than the Windows\System folder, the TaskWizard fails to run. Depending on the TaskWizard you are attempting to use, the files Msworks.twz or Mswizl3.twz may cause the error if they are corrupted, missing, or not in the Msworks folder.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, search for the Vbrun300.dll and the .twz files on your hard disk, and make sure these files are the right file size and are in the right locations.

Search for Vbrun300.dll

  1. On the Start menu, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.
  2. On the Name And Location tab, type "vbrun300.dll" (without the quotation marks).
  3. Click Find Now.

There should be a copy of the Vbrun300.dll file in the Msworks folder and the file should be 390 kilobytes (KB) in size.
  4. If the file is not found, run Works Setup again.

    -or-

If the file is the wrong size, rename the file. To do this in Windows Explorer, right-click the file name, and then select Rename and type a new name for the file. Then, run Works Setup again.

Search for .twz files

  1. On the Start menu, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.
  2. On the Name And Location tab, type "*.twz" (without the quotation marks).
  3. Click Find Now.

There should be one copy of Msworks.twz and one copy of Mswizl3.twz on the system, and they should be located in the Msworks folder. Msworks.twz is 724K in size, and Mswizl3.twz is 207K in size.
  4. If the files are not found, run Works Setup again.

    -or-

If either file is the wrong size, rename the file. To do this in Windows Explorer, right-click the file name, and then select Rename and type a new name for the file. Then, run Works Setup again.
