SUMMARY

In Windows 95 you can print a document by dragging the document to the printer or by using the right mouse button to click the document file name in Explorer and selecting the Print command. If you do this with a Works 2.0 or 3.0 file, you may receive the following error message:
Printer driver file not found or not valid.

The driver file for the printer you have selected is missing or not valid. You may have to run the Windows Setup program to reinstall the printer.

MORE INFORMATION

This error message occurs if the printer has a long file name; earlier versions of Works do not recognize long file names. Rename the printer with a name that contains eight or fewer characters to resolve the problem.

To rename the printer do the following:
  1. Click the Start button and then point to Settings and click Printers.
  2. Use the right mouse button to click on the printer you want to rename.
  3. Click Rename on the menu that appears.
  4. Type a name that has eight or fewer characters and press ENTER.
