Macintosh Multimedia: Printout Has Overlapping Characters (139923)

SYMPTOMS

After you print from one of the products listed above, you will notice problems with the printed copy. These problems may include any of the following:
  • Some characters, such as bullets, do not print.
  • Some characters overlap or run into other characters.
  • Bold characters may not print.
  • Italicized characters may not print.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the Arial and MS Reference fonts are not installed on the system.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the Arial and MS Reference fonts.

To install the font from the specific product compact disc

  1. Insert the disc for the applicable program into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. In the CD-ROM window, locate and open the Install Files folder.
  3. Locate and open the Fonts folder.
  4. Copy the fonts from the compact disc to the System folder located on the hard drive.
  5. When asked if you want to place items into the Fonts folder, click OK.
  6. Launch the product and print your document.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Cinemania version 1996 and Music Central 1996. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
