This article was previously published under Q139883 SYMPTOMS
When you install Microsoft Office 97 or Microsoft Office for Windows 95
to a hard disk that has more than 1 gigabyte (GB) of available disk
space, the Setup program lists the space available as 999,999K,
regardless of the actual available free disk space.
CAUSE
This behavior is by design. The Setup program is unable to recognize
volumes larger than 1 GB; therefore, a value of 0 is reported from the
operating system during the search for available disk space. Setup
changes the 0 value to 999,999K to make sure that enough space is
reported for Setup to continue.
