SYMPTOMS

A table that spans two pages shows a border along the bottom of the row at the end of the first page but does not show a border along the top of the cell that starts the second page.

CAUSE

An automatic page break separates two rows, and the table is formatted so that the cells have a bottom border (rather than with inside borders between rows). This behavior is by design.

WORKAROUND

To correct the problem, apply a different type of border:
  1. Display the Border toolbar by clicking Toolbars on the View menu, and selecting Borders. Click OK.
  2. In the table, select both cells (the cell at the bottom of the page and the cell at the top of the next page).
  3. On the Border toolbar, click the Inside Border button. You may need to click it twice. A line appears on each cell.
