SYMPTOMS

The following decimal number produces an incorrect result when entered into a Works spreadsheet or database:

1.40737488355328

The number produces 1.28 when entered into a Works 4.0, 4.5 and 4.5a Spreadsheet or Database, and 0.64 when entered into a Works 3.0 Spreadsheet or Database. Multiples of the number produce multiples of the incorrect value, for example:

2 x 1.40737488355328 = 2.81474976710656

Works displays 2.56 in Works 4.0, 4.5 and 4.5a, and 1.28 in Works 3.0x.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
