PUB: Error Changing Draftmaster II Driver to Roll Paper (139397)

SYMPTOMS

If you choose the Hewlett-Packard (HP) Draftmaster II plotter in the Publisher Print Setup dialog box and choose either of the two roll paper sizes (24 or 36 inches), you will receive the following error:
An error has occurred in your program. To keep working anyway, click Ignore and save your work in a new file. To quit this program, click Close. You will lose information you entered since your last Save.
If you click Ignore several times, you will be able to resume work on your publication. If you click Close, you will receive the following error:
MSPUB caused a divide error in module HPPLOT.DRV at 000b:000008d4.

CAUSE

This is a problem with the HP plotter driver for Windows 95. Other programs such as Word for Windows 95 and Excel for Windows 95 experience similar symptoms.

RESOLUTION

  1. Click the Windows 95 Start button, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Printers icon.
  3. With the right mouse button, click the Draftmaster II icon and click Properties on the menu that appears.
  4. Click the Papers tab.
  5. Choose the width of roll paper you want to use and the length of the paper. Click OK.
  6. In Publisher, click Print Setup on the File menu.
  7. In the Print Setup dialog box, choose the Draftmaster II from the list of installed printers. Click OK.
The printer will already have the desired paper size.
