If you have incorrect permissions set in the Windows NT LanmanServer
registry keys, unpredictable results occur. Following are some examples:
- A member of the Administrators group is denied access to
create a new share, or stop sharing an existing share.
- Users on remote clients are not able to connect to or view
shares.
- File Manager stops responding (hangs) when the Sharing or
Stop Sharing buttons are pressed.
- Windows NT Server takes an extraordinary long time to
restart (as much as 10 additional minutes).
- The System Profile loads including its usual configuration
such as a bitmap if one is defined and a mouse pointer, but
the Winlogon Welcome dialog box (normally displaying "Press
Ctrl+Alt+Del to log on.") is not displayed.
- Windows NT does not boot at all.
