The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project for Windows 4.0
- Microsoft Project for Windows 95 4.1
- Microsoft Project for the Macintosh 4.0
This article was previously published under Q138565 SYMPTOMS
A task's duration may change incorrectly when the task's meets the
following criteria:
- The resource assigned to the task has a calendar different from the
Project Base Calendar.
- The task has a finish-to-finish relationship with another task.
CAUSE
The early start date for a task is calculated incorrectly when the task
has a finish-to-finish predecessor and a resource assigned whose hours do
not match the project calendar.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use the following steps:
- Select the finish date of the predecessor task.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Select the finish date of the successor task.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special, and click
Paste Link.
- Select Text Data and click OK.
This creates an OLE link between the task's finish dates, establishing a
finish-to-finish dependency which forces the start date to be moved.
However, this OLE link will not be displayed with a link line on the Gantt
Chart.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.
