SUMMARY

In Microsoft Works for Windows 4.0 or later, you can turn off or hide the entry bar (called the formula bar in earlier versions of Works) in Works Spreadsheet and the list view in Works Database.

To do this:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click the Data Entry tab.
  3. Under Cell Data Entry Modes, click the Edit In Cells, Not In Entry Bar option, and then click OK.

MORE INFORMATION

In the Data Entry tab, located in the Options dialog box on the Tools menu, you find a section labeled Cell Data Entry Modes. In this section, the following three choices are available:
  • Edit In Cells And In Entry Bar: This option allows in-cell editing as well as editing in the entry bar.

  • Edit In Entry Bar, Not In Cells: This option does not allow in-cell editing.

  • Edit In Cells, Not In Entry Bar: This option allows in-cell editing only and hides the entry bar.
Because earlier versions of Works for Windows did not support the in-cell editing functionality, the entry bar could not be hidden or removed.
