Errors Running NetWare Directory Services Tool (138047)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 95
  • Microsoft Windows 98

This article was previously published under Q138047

SYMPTOMS

When you run a NetWare Directory Services (NDS) tool, you may receive the following error messages:
Unicode not loaded

Can't set context

CAUSE

These errors may occur because your NetWare client does not have access to the Unicode tables.

RESOLUTION

To resolve the problem, map a search drive to the Public\NLS directory on your NetWare server. To do so, you can either use a search drive mapping or you can set the local path environment variable. For information about these methods, please consult your NetWare documentation.

MORE INFORMATION

When you install VLMs, a directory named Windir\NLS is created. This directory contains the Unicode tables. When you set up the Microsoft Service for NDS, this directory is not created; you must create a path to the files on the server.
