Toolbars and Dialog Boxes Displayed in Black and White (137904)

In Microsoft Excel, toolbars and dialog boxes may be displayed in black and
white and may not be displayed with the three-dimensional effect that they
normally have.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if you have specified a scaled font in the Display
Properties dialog box in Windows 95. When you change the font scale in
Display Properties to a value less than 100 percent, the following warning
message may be displayed:
This font size setting may cause some programs to appear incorrectly.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use the following steps to increase the scale
for the font in the Display Properties dialog box: - Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control
Panel.
- Double-click the Display icon to change the Display Properties.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Click the Custom button for the Font Size.
- Increase the font scale to 100% and click OK.
NOTE: You may be able to use a font scale that is smaller than 100
percent. - Click OK in Display Properties, and then click OK for the warning
message if one appears.
- You must restart your computer for this setting to take effect.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
