PRJ41: Can't Change Paper Size Running Under Windows NT (137846)

SYMPTOMS

If you are running Microsoft Project under Windows NT, version 3.51, when you select a new form size (paper size), the new size is ignored and the view or report is printed or is displayed in print preview on letter-sized paper.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project for Windows 95 version 4.1a.

WORKAROUND

To set a paper size for use in Microsoft Project, use either of the following methods:

NOTE: You can use these same methods to set other printer attributes such as duplexing options, and so forth.

Method 1

  1. In Windows NT, start Print Manager.
  2. Select the printer, and then on the Printer menu, click Properties.
  3. Click Details.
  4. Click Job Defaults.
  5. Change the form to the size you want. Click OK three times.
NOTE: To have sufficient privileges to change the default form size for a printer, you must be a member of the Administrators or Power Users group.

Method 2

If you have permissions to change printer properties, you can create another printer icon by following these steps:

  1. In Windows NT, start Print Manager.
  2. On the Printer menu, click Create Printer.
  3. In the dialog box, type a printer name, such as "Project Printer."
  4. In the Print To and Driver To boxes, enter the name of the printer you are using with Microsoft Project.
  5. Click Details, and then click Job Defaults. Change the form to the size you want.
  6. To quit Print Manager, click OK three times.
  7. In Microsoft Project, on the File menu, click Print.
  8. In the Printer list, select the printer you created in steps 1-6.
