PUB: Can't Copy Publisher Drawn Objects or Pictures to WordPad (137774)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Publisher for Windows 3.0
- Microsoft WordPad for Windows 95
This article was previously published under Q137774 SYMPTOMS
If you copy a picture frame or an object made with Publisher's drawing
tools to the Clipboard and try to paste it into WordPad, it will come in as
a blank frame.
CAUSE
When you copy something from a publication, Publisher puts the information
into the Clipboard in several formats, all of which are understandable to
WordPad. WordPad, however, does not know which data format to choose, and
the object comes in blank.
This problem does not occur with OLE object copied from Publisher, nor does
it occur with text frames.
RESOLUTION
To correctly paste a Publisher picture or object into WordPad, click Paste
Special on WordPad's File menu (not Paste). Choose any format from the list
of data types. Click Paste.
You can also drag an object out of Publisher and drop it onto WordPad.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
