Works 95 : Administrative Setup Not Completed Successfully (137078)

SYMPTOMS

During an administrative installation of Works 4.0, 4.0a, 4.5, or 4.5a to a network, Setup fails and you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Works Setup was not completed successfully.

CAUSE

This error message occurs if the following is true:

  • You try to install the shared files to the same folder as the program files.

    -and-

  • you select the server as the location for the shared files.

RESOLUTION

Use one of the following methods to avoid this error message.

Method 1

Select a separate folder for the shared files located at the same level as the program files folder. For example, if you choose

X:\Msworks

as the destination for the administrative installation, the default location for the shared files is:

X:\Msapps

Method 2

Choose User's Choice or Local Hard Drive as the location of the shared files. This allows the Administrative Setup to complete successfully.

MORE INFORMATION

This error message is by design. When you attempt an Administrative Setup, you should not install shared components into the same folder as the program files.
