PRJ41: Can't Select Item in View by Clicking It (136814)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project for Windows 4.0
- Microsoft Project for Windows 95 4.1
This article was previously published under Q136814 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you switch from Microsoft Project to another
program or window, and you then minimize that program or window, you may
not be able to select any items on the view in your project.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you display the Resource Assignment dialog box in Microsoft Project, and you click the view in your project (so that the Resource Assignment dialog box is not active), if you switch to another program, and then minimize the other program.
Although you can still select items in the Resource Assignment dialog box by clicking when this behavior occurs, you cannot select an item on your project by clicking the item, even after you close the Resource Assignment dialog box. For example, you can no longer activate a cell on the Gantt chart by clicking the cell.
This problem occurs when you run Microsoft Project under Microsoft Windows
95 or Microsoft Windows NT. This problem does not occur when you run
Microsoft Project version 4.0 under Windows version 3.x.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, you can use any of the following methods:
- Method 1: Minimize and then restore the Microsoft Project window
by clicking the Minimize button (on the Microsoft Project
title bar) and then clicking the Microsoft Project button on
the Windows taskbar.
- Method 2: Switch to another program by using the Windows
taskbar, the Start menu, or by pressing ALT+TAB, and
then switching back to Microsoft Project.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.
