PUB: Lines in Tiny Flowers BorderArt Don't Print in Color (136563)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher for Windows 3.0

This article was previously published under Q136563

SYMPTOMS

If you print a Publisher object or frame that uses the "Flowers, Tiny" BorderArt pattern to a color printer, the lines between the flowers don't print.

CAUSE

The lines between the flowers are middle gray hairlines. Most color printers print these lines as white.

RESOLUTION

To print the lines, make them thicker. You can use Microsoft Draw 1.01 to make the lines thicker:
  1. Draw a rectangle in Publisher.
  2. On the Format menu, click BorderArt. Choose the "Flowers, Tiny" pattern. Click OK.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Cut.
  4. On the Insert menu, click Object.
  5. In the list of objects, click Microsoft Drawing 1.01. Microsoft Draw will start.
  6. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  7. On the Draw menu, click Line Style.
  8. Select 1 Point from the list of line thicknesses.
  9. On the File menu, click Update, then click Exit And Return on the File menu.
The box will now reappear on your page. The lines will be slightly thicker. You can now print this box successfully to a color printer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
