This article was previously published under Q136428 SYMPTOMS
When a resource is assigned to a task and uses a calendar with different
hours available per day than are available in the base project for that
project, the progress bar on that task may not look correct.
CAUSE
This may occur when the following conditions are true:
- All the resources assigned to the task are scheduled according to
calendars other than the project calendar.
-and-
- In the Bar Styles dialog box, the To date of the
progress bar is Complete Through rather than %
Complete.
The default progress bar is defined to start at the Actual Start of a task and draw through to its calculated Complete Through value.
Complete Through is computed by taking the finish minus the remaining
duration. When a resource has more hours available per day than the base
calendar for the project, for example, it is possible for the Complete
Through value to be evaluated to a value that is before the start of a
task which would cause the task's progress bar to be invisible.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use the following steps to alter the bar
styles for the progress bar so that they are visible:
- On the Format menu, click Bar Styles.
- Scroll to the Progress section of the Name
column.
- On the Progress line, change the entry in the To column
from Complete Through to % Complete. You can either
type the new entry or get it from the list produced by clicking the
drop-down list in the upper-right corner.
- Click OK to close the Bar Styles dialog box.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
