The exponents of numbers formatted in scientific notation in a Microsoft
Excel spreadsheet are reduced by 1 when you open the spreadsheet in Word.
The reduced exponent results in a number that is larger than expected.
WORKAROUND
To work around the problem, copy and paste the cells from Excel to Word.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the
beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Word 97 for
Windows, version 97. It was also corrected in Word 98 Macintosh Edition.
