SYMPTOMS

When you open a database file that you last saved in the Report view, you may find that the column widths in the report have changed. Also, each time you save and reopen the file, the column widths are reduced.

This problem occurs only on database reports in which the font of the report is different than the master font in List view of the database.

MORE INFORMATION

To resolve this issue, make a new copy of the report using one of the methods below:

Method 1

  1. Open the database in Report View.
  2. In the top left corner of report grid, click Select All.
  3. Right-click and select Copy. This retains format styles for later recall.
  4. While everything is still selected, change the font style to Arial and the size to 10. This is the Works' default font.
  5. Select the first cell of the report.
  6. Right-click and paste the saved report.

Method 2

  1. Open the database in Report view.
  2. Click the first cell in the report.
  3. Press CTRL+SHIFT+END to highlight the report.
  4. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  5. On the Tools menu, click Report Creator.
  6. In the Type a name for the report below box, type a name for the new report, and then click OK.
  7. On the first Report Creator screen, click Done.

Note By default, the master font for the database is selected as the font for the report.
  8. When you are prompted to preview or modify the report, click Modify.
  9. Click the first cell in the empty report.
  10. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  11. Resize the columns in the report, and then save the database.

Method 3

  1. Open the database in Report view.
  2. In the upper-left corner of the report grid, click Select All.
  3. Reduce the font size.
  4. Resize the columns that Works had resized.
  5. On the File menu, click Save.
