PRJ41: "Topic Does Not Exist" for Visual Basic Method (136076)

SYMPTOMS

When you press F1 in a module or when you click the Help button (?) in the Object Browser to display the Help topic for one of the Visual Basic keywords in your macro, you may receive the following error message:
The topic does not exist. Contact your application vendor for an updated Help file. (129)

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you attempt to display the Help topic for one of the following Visual Basic methods:

AutoCorrect
FileProperties
HelpAnswerWizard
HelpMicrosoftNetwork
HelpTopics
MailPostDocument
MailProjectMailCustomize
ResourceAddressBook
ResourceDetails
BuiltinDocumentProperties
CustomDocumentProperties

This problem only occurs when you display the Help topic by using context sensitive Help in a Visual Basic module (by pressing F1 with the method selected or with the insertion point following the method in the macro).

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use the Index tab or the Answer Wizard tab in Microsoft Project Help or in Visual Basic Help. To display the Help topic for one of the methods in the list above, use the following steps:

  1. On the Help menu, click Microsoft Project Help Topics.
  2. Click the Index tab.
  3. Enter the method that you want to display the Help topic for, such as AutoCorrect, and then click Display.
  4. If a list of topics appears, click the topic that discusses the particular Visual Basic method, and then click Display.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
