When you insert the document name in a Works 4.0 word processing document, the file name is always inserted with the extension, even if you configured Windows 95 to hide extensions for registered file types.

MORE INFORMATION

To insert the file name of a word processing document, do the following:

  1. Start Works.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Document Name.
The file name field (*filename*) prints the file name of the document in Print Preview and on the actual printout. There is no way to suppress the extension, typically .wps, when you insert the file name.

To modify how file extensions are viewed in Windows 95, do the following:

  1. Double-click My Computer.
  2. On the View menu, click Options.
  3. Click the View tab.
  4. Select or clear the option for Hide MS-DOS File Extensions For File Types That Are Registered.
