SUMMARY

When you insert the Microsoft Office compact disc into your CD-ROM drive, a Microsoft Office For Windows 95 window automatically appears on your screen. This behavior occurs because of the Autorun.exe file located in the Autorun folder on the Microsoft Office CD. This file runs automatically when you insert the Office CD in your CD-ROM drive.

Note that the Autorun feature will only work if the Auto Insert Notification setting is selected for your CD-ROM drive. By default, this setting is selected. To select this setting, do the following:

  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start. Click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click the System icon. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Device Manager tab.
  3. In the list of devices, double-click CDROM. Click your specific CD-ROM drive.
  4. Click Properties. In the Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.
  5. Under Options, select the Auto Insert Notification check box, and click OK.
  6. In the System Properties dialog box, click OK. Close Control Panel.
