ATI Mach 64 Display Adapter Produces Garbled Screen (134487)

SYMPTOMS

On some ATI Mach 64 Display Adapters, when you change the display resolution in the Display Properties dialog box so that it is greater than 640 X 480 pixels and you select the 16 Color Color Palette option, the screen becomes completely garbled and unreadable.

CAUSE

The 16 Color option with resolutions greater than 640 X 480 pixels is not supported by some ATI Mach 64 adapters.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, select the 256 Color option for any resolution above 640 X 480 pixels.
