SUMMARY

The Office 7.0 for Windows 95 Resource Kit includes updated versions of the Multinational Ext And Greek Symbol fonts that were originally made available with the WordPerfect 5.x/6.0 Supplemental Converter Kit for Word 6.x for Windows.

These fonts are also included in the ValuPack section of the Office for Windows 95 CD-ROM. They are not included with the stand-alone version of Word.

MORE INFORMATION

Problems these updated fonts address include the following:

  • The Greek Symbols font had the same Panose number as Arial. (Panose numbers represent the characteristics of a font, such as serif/sans serif, formatting [bold, italic], weight, and so on.) Because the WordPerfect 6.0 converter uses Panose numbers to perform font mapping, text formatting for a Swiss (Arial) style font may be mapped to the Greek Symbols font and therefore appear as Greek characters.
  • Extended characters from an earlier release of the Multinational Ext font do not appear in the Insert Symbol dialog box in Word 6.x or 7.0 under Windows 95.
