When you run a Maintenance Mode Setup for Microsoft Office and elect to
uninstall or remove any or all of the shared programs (such as Microsoft
Graph, ClipArt Gallery, and Organization Chart), the files composing the
shared programs will not actually be deleted.
STATUS
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here
in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
RESOLUTION
Maintenance Mode Setup removes certain Registry entries when you remove a
shared component. Setup removes all the appropriate Registry entries and
the shared component files from your hard drive ONLY if no other
applications are listed as also using that shared component.
To remove a shared program for just one application, you can run
Maintenance Setup and choose to remove it. Only certain Registry entries
will be removed, and then you must delete the folder that contains the
shared program files.
The shared programs installed by PowerPoint and Office are located by
default in subfolders of this folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared
