Data Map: Text Added to Data Map Flashes as You Type (132510)

This article was previously published under Q132510

SYMPTOMS

When you add text to a map that you have created in your document using Data Map, the text flashes or is redrawn as you type each character of the text on your map.

CAUSE

When you insert a map (Data Map object) in your document, you can add text to the map by clicking the Add Text button on the Data Map toolbar, clicking on your map, and then typing the text you want displayed. However, when you add text to your map, each character that you type causes the entire string of text to flicker on the screen. This behavior occurs because each character on the map must be drawn individually.

Note that this behavior does not affect the functionality of Data Map; the behavior is only a visual effect. This behavior is most obvious on a slower computer or when you type text that overlaps the map (because the map color and text background color are different).
