Reset TipWizard Check Box Appears Gray (Semi-Select State) (131924)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 95
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 5.0c
This article was previously published under Q131924 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Excel, when you display the General tab in the Options dialog
box, the Reset TipWizard check box may appear gray, or in a semi-select
state, instead of selected or cleared.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if the TipWizard is disabled. Normally, when the
TipWizard is enabled, the Reset TipWizard check box on the General tab is
clear, and has two different selection states (namely, selected or
cleared). However, if you disable the TipWizard by pressing the SHIFT key
and selecting the ToolTip button on the Standard toolbar, the Reset
TipWizard check box is gray, and it has three different selection states:
gray, selected, or cleared.
When you reset the TipWizard, the TipWizard memory is cleared so that you
can view tips that you have already seen.
MORE INFORMATION
Selecting the TipWizard button on the Standard toolbar toggles the
TipWizard; the TipWizard is either displayed or closed. When you press the
SHIFT key and select the TipWizard button, the TipWizard is either disabled
(doesn't display any tips) or enabled. The TipWizard button always appears
white when it is disabled.
If you disable the TipWizard while the TipWizard is displayed, the
TipWizard is closed. If you enable the TipWizard while the TipWizard is not
displayed, the TipWizard is displayed.
