Combination Chart Plot Area Color Reverts to Default (131330)

SYMPTOMS

In the versions of Microsoft Excel listed at the beginning of this article, if you change the color of the plot area in a combination chart, and you then reopen the chart, the default color may be displayed rather than the new color.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when a combination chart is newly created and you change the color of the plot area before you save and close the workbook.

WORKAROUND

After you create the combination chart, save and close the workbook. Then reopen the workbook and format the plot area to the desired color.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed above. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows and Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.
