App Error, Unexpected Close, or Hang Copying Chart Sheet (131256)

In the versions of Microsoft Excel listed at the beginning of this article,
when you copy a chart sheet, you may receive an application error,
Microsoft Excel may close, or your computer may stop responding (hang).
CAUSE
These symptoms occur if the workbook in which the chart sheet is located is
protected with a password.
RESOLUTION
To avoid these problems, follow the steps below to remove the password
protection:
- Open the file. When prompted, type in the password.
- On the File menu, click Save As.
- In the Save As dialog box, click Options.
- In the Save Options dialog box, remove the password in the Protection
Password box, and click OK.
- Click Save. Click Yes when prompted to replace the existing file.
You can now copy the chart.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Excel listed at the beginning of this article. The problem was corrected in
Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows and Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.
